Print of my original oil painting “Through The Darkness”, printed on extra heavy linen cardstock.
While this piece began as only a study painting for me to try out new techniques, it ended up becoming one of my favorite works yet. Before I started, I came across a passage in my Rumi oracle deck that mentioned the quote used in this painting — Da Tariki Tariqat, which translates to “Through the darkness, there is a path” in Arabic. I loved this for many reasons and instantly knew I wanted to use it in a painting. While I did not use myself as the model for this piece, I did draw inspiration from my own stomach and chest tattoos for the composition.
